OUR HISTORY

2020
DN Terms & Conditions Launched
Firstly, DN worked with Agents & Dance Artists alike to create a set of regulations that are now used by the large majority of the industry when booking talent. These T&C's included protections for touring accommodation, rehearsal breaks and minimum rates for rehearsals and travel days.

None of these protections existed before Dancers Network.

DN COVID Relief Fund
2021/22
The creative industries suffered immensely during the COVID pandemic, and with the prevention of performances and tours, dance artists were struggling, especially those who couldn't claim furlough from regular books such as dance artists in the commercial dance industry. Dancers Network distributed over £8000 to dancers in this time to support them.

2023/24
CAP THE PENCIL campaign
One of the largest campaigns we'd run was kickstarted by a film project that pencilled a large majority of the industry. We heard complaints from many dancers around pencilling and have since sat with Equity, DCD, CDA & Agents to create terms that protect dancers when being pencilled, and provide compensation if these timelines for 'holding' dancers are exceeded.

2024 - 2026
DN Restructure & Membership Launch
By the start of 2024, Dancers Network had a following of more than 10K and was receiving regular requests for support of all kinds, all while Li Li was touring the world as a dance artist for one of the biggest pop stars, Dua Lipa. With the team still only three people, Li Li brought in Jack and later Selin to act as Directors, helping transform the success of the volunteer run organisation into a business that can sustain itself.
Now, as we begin our sustainable journey into 2026, we’re ready to encourage, inspire, and pursue change in our industry stronger than ever bettering the industry overall for all those who work in the commercial dance industry.
